Favorite Ziva & Gibbs moments in NCIS-
I adore this scene in Shalom between Ziva and Gibbs. Ziva is on the run from everyone and everything she’s ever been associated with. From Mossad, her father, the FBI, and NCIS… aka the team she has become a part of; she’s at a loss with nowhere to go and nobody to help. To me, Ziva has always seen Gibbs as a type of father figure, and when she is completely alone, without assistance during Shalom, she calls him… at first, not wanting to get to the point.
This is one of the few times we get to see early Ziva really shaken up and at a loss. In her mind, Gibbs is the man that can fix it. So, on the run, she gives him a call when she knows he is off on ‘retirement’. Calling him, she hopes he can be the one to make things go right. And super-Mossad-Officer Ziva David is asked by Gibbs, “Well, what do you want me to do?” She straight-up tells him, “I don’t know… save me?”
I love everything about Ziva when she says that. There are tears, there is a shake to her voice, there is vulnerability, and there is a sense of child-like essence. How incredibly worried does Ziva have to be in order to admit 1). she not only needs help but 2). she needs Gibbs to help her? Ziva is like a daughter to him, and he knew he had to help. Even if Ziva did not ask him in such a blunt and helpless manner, Gibbs still would have taken that red-eye for Ziva.
I just love that Ziva drops her wall for a short time and wants and needs, not just anybody, but Gibbs to be the one to save her. I always find this scene flawless. It’s so raw, not matter how short it is.
